Symposium cancelled

In light of the ongoing uncertainty around COVID-19 restrictions and after thoughtful discussions with the organising committee, we have decided to cancel the Quality improvement scientific symposium which was rescheduled to take place in Christchurch on 6 April 2022.

This decision was made following the Commission’s ‘virtual-first’ approach to hosting events, which is in place until June 2022.

Showcasing the work in the 2021 symposium programme

We will still embrace this year’s theme, ‘Whakahohe, whiria te muka tangata | Recharge, inspire and connect’, which focuses on taking time to connect with our colleagues and, reflect on recent inspirational work achieved in an environment with a high degree of uncertainty and complexity. This year’s selected abstract presenters will be invited to present their work in virtual ‘rapid-fire lunchtime sessions’ in 2022.

The lunchtime sessions have been pencil booked for 12pm-1pm on:

  • 17 February 2022
  • 24 February 2022
  • 3 March 2022
  • 10 March 2022.

Please mark them in your calendar and we will announce the programmes and provide the zoom links when details are confirmed.

Thank you for your ongoing understanding as we adjust and respond to these challenging times.

The Health Quality & Safety Commission is hosting its 7th annual scientific symposium for health care quality improvement practitioners. This year’s theme, ‘Whakahohe, whiria te muka tangata | Recharge, inspire and connect’, focuses on taking time to connect with your colleagues to reflect on the inspirational work done over the past 18 months in an environment with a high degree of uncertainty and complexity.

Recharge your enthusiasm and ignite inspiration by sharing knowledge and wisdom of quality improvement across all fields of health care. Participants will:

  • share what has been learned from applying scientific methods to health care improvement
  • network with like-minded colleagues
  • discuss challenges in applying and disseminating scientific approaches to health care improvement
  • create a common understanding of how to apply and disseminate scientific methods to improve health and health             care underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
